Ondřej Chybík and Michal Krištof Turn a Berlin Gallery into a Live Architecture Studio
The architectural practice CHYBIK + KRISTOF, founded by FA VUT lecturers Ondřej Chybík and Michal Krištof, has opened the exhibition Building the Existing City at the Aedes Architecture Forum in Berlin. Throughout the exhibition, the gallery is transformed into a live architecture studio, where visitors can observe the development of four design proposals for specific sites and urban situations across Berlin.

The four projects were selected through the open call 4 Transformations for Berlin, which invited submissions from individuals, community initiatives, public institutions, property owners, and other organisations. The studio is now developing these proposals pro bono and in collaboration with local communities and organisations.
Over the course of six weeks, visitors can follow the research process, discussions, and the gradual development of architectural and urban design studies. The final proposals will be presented by the studio at a closing event on 3 December.
The exhibition also presents the broader work of the practice through four themes: PLAY, LIVE, ACTIVATE, and ADAPT. The installation features drawings, models, videos, material studies, and research materials related to selected projects. The accompanying programme includes lectures, film screenings, workshops for schools, and discussions aimed at university students.
Building the Existing City is on view at the Aedes Architecture Forum in Berlin from 23 October to 3 December 2026.
