Information regarding lessons and participation in protest events on 3 November
In connection with the protests on 3 November 2026, the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Brno University of Technology has issued a decision governing the organisation of teaching and the conditions of attendance for students and faculty staff.
No day off will be declared, and teaching will take place according to the current timetable. If students request an excuse for their absence from classes, lecturers will grant their requests. Students are not required to state a reason for their absence, and lecturers will not record it.
Lecturers will also allow students to fulfil their study obligations missed on 3 November at a later date, provided that the nature of the teaching and the BUT Study and Examination Regulations permit this. Lecturers will reschedule any assessed teaching sessions planned for that day or, where appropriate, arrange an alternative date for the students concerned.
Faculty staff may take part in protest events outside their scheduled working hours. During working hours, participation is possible by agreement with the relevant line manager, by taking annual leave, compensatory time off or unpaid leave, or within the framework of flexible working hours, where applicable.
Academic staff whose scheduled teaching clashes with protest events may, following consultation with the head of department, arrange for it to be rescheduled or replaced on an alternative date. In doing so, students who do not take part in the protest events must not be disadvantaged.
Participation in protest events is voluntary. Neither
participation nor non-participation may be grounds for any form of disadvantage
to students or staff. This decision comes into effect on 2 November 2026.
