As part of his fellowship, he took part in the second
specialist workshop, ‘From War-time Urbanism to Reconstruction in Ukraine:
Practices of Emergency Response and Sustainable Recovery’, which took place
from 17 to 19 September. The event focused on the themes of urban planning and
architecture in wartime conditions and on the processes of post-war
reconstruction in Ukraine.
Alex Bykov played an active role in the expert discussion
and co-moderated a round-table session dedicated to civic initiatives, the
protection of cultural heritage and local reconstruction processes.

The workshop followed on from a previous meeting in April
2025, which resulted in the publication Coping with Destruction: Repair,
Reconstruction, and New Approaches for Rebuilding in Ukraine. The publication
offers up-to-date perspectives on the regeneration of Ukrainian cities and
towns and can serve as a valuable resource for those interested in
architecture, urban planning, the preservation of cultural heritage and
reconstruction processes in areas affected by armed conflict.
