Magdalena Kozień-Woźniak will present contemporary theatre architecture in Poland at FA BUT
On Tuesday 13 October, FA BUT will welcome Magdalena Kozień-Woźniak, a distinguished
Polish architect and academic and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at the
Kraków University of Technology. From 1.00 pm, she will give a lecture entitled
‘Contemporary Theatre Architecture and Informal Theatre Spaces’ in the
auditorium of FA BUT, in
which she will present examples of contemporary theatre buildings in Poland,
including her own projects.
Magdalena Kozień-Woźniak is a member of the Association of
Polish Architects (SARP) and, during her professional career, has won 30 awards
and honours together with her team. She has won architectural competitions on
nine occasions. Among other projects, she has contributed to the designs for
the Radio Koszalin building, the National Museum of the Przemysl Region in
Przemyśl, the Capitol Music Theatre in Wrocław, and a branch of the State
Higher School of Dramatic Arts in Wrocław.
The National Museum of the Przemysl Region in Przemyśl was
nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2008, the European Union Prize for
Contemporary Architecture, and won an award in the SARP Prize of the Year 2008
competition. The Capitol Music Theatre in Wrocław received the Grand Prix in
the ‘Beautiful Wrocław 2013’ competition and was also successful in the SARP
Award of the Year 2013 competition.
The lecture is being held as part of the TAČR PASPO project
– ‘Passportisation of Theatres and Performance Spaces’ – and is open to
students, lecturers and the professional public.
