Exhibition "Vision of Life" presents the architect István Sajó at The Gallery mini
The exhibition "Vision of Life" introduces the rediscovered Jewish architect István Sajó, a native of Debrecen, who is notable not only for his Art Deco creations but also for his dramatic life story. We warmly invite you to the opening, which will take place on September 3rd at 5:00 PM at the Mini Gallery at the Faculty of Architecture, Brno University of Technology.
The Mini Gallery will showcase the life story and legacy of architect István Sajó, who, after graduating from the Technical University in Budapest, worked for several years in Dortmund, and later in Miami and New York. He returned to Debrecen in 1928 and began designing rental houses and villas in the city center. In 1945, he and his family were deported, but miraculously, they all returned from the concentration camp. After World War II, he designed the headquarters for the local hospital and clinics, as well as a special concrete shell structure for the Debrecen train station.
As a accompanying program to the exhibition, there will also be a guided tour on September 12th at 5:00 PM and a closing event on September 28th at 5:00 PM.
Curators: Karin Písaříková, Lilla Szoboszlai
The event was organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture of the Brno University of Technology, the city of Brno, and the city of Debrecen, under the patronage of the Mayor of Brno, JUDr. Markéta Vaňková.
