New housing culture like in the Netherlands. How do young architects envision the development of Zábrdovice?
How do the new generations from the Faculty of Architecture (FA BUT) under the leadership of Dutch architects and in cooperation with the Office of the Architect of the City of Brno (KAM) imagine the further development of Zábrdovice? What is the students' vision of the culture of housing and densification of urban development? You can see the exhibition of student proposals for the urban solution of the location between Jan Svoboda Street and the Svitava River in the Gallery from June 7! ENTER KAM in the Green Market.
With the expansion and densification of our cities, it is also necessary to think about a new approach to the use of our living space. How to live "sustainably" together and how to give the new development its own identity so that places "without a soul" are not created? Is it possible to play with the scale of buildings in such a way that we use the amenities and advantages of the city, but at the same time the togetherness of the village?
FA BUT students pondered these questions, and the results of their work are presented in an exhibition that will open on Thursday, June 6 from 4:30 p.m. in the Gallery! ENTER. It will take place with the participation of the management of the Faculty of Architecture, experts from KAM, students and their teachers. The exhibition can then be visited until September 15, every weekday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
"This experiment focuses on the area between Jan Svoboda Street and the Svitava River. An area now enclosed between a residential area and a brownfield that was once a railway line. Students
as a project team, they developed a new urban concept for the city of Brno, which tries to answer how the new generations would like to live in an effort to find a balance between public and private," explains Radek Suchánek, dean of the Faculty of Architecture, about the terms of reference for the semester-long project.
21 students under the leadership of Dutch architects Gabriel Peni, Servia Boetzkes and Radek Brunecký from FA BUT participated in the development of this project, together with David Zajíček, head of the Department of Public Space at KAM, and Pavla Pannová, head of Department of Spatial Planning at KAM.
City architect Jan Tesárek also welcomes the cooperation between the faculty and KAM: "The city will gain a new creative perspective for the development of the surroundings of Tišnovka. The location offers potential for quality housing in an area of ??the wider city center with excellent transport access. In the near future, flood prevention measures will also be added on the adjacent section of the Svitava."
