The Institute of Experiment celebrates eight years with an exhibition, discussion and the launch of a book about the future of cities
The youngest of the Faculty's departments
of architecture at the University of Technology in Brno summarizes his eight-year tenure
the exhibition Široký perimetr architecture in the creative hub KUMST, which
ceremonially opened by Radek Suchánek, Dean of the FA BUT. As part of the accompanying
program and the Architecture Day festival will take place on September 29. at 16:30 panel
discussion with Ján Pernecký, Petr Janda, Jiří Vítek, Szymon Rozwałka
and the head of the institute, Martin Kaftan. The evening will conclude with the launch of the BIOM book about the possible
the future of cities.
The year 2016 is about the establishment of the dynamic Institute of Experimentation
Petr Šmídek deserved it. It is now led by the architect Martin Kaftan, in whose
the permanent team includes Nicol Galeová, who curated the exhibition, Szymon
Rozwałka and Svatopluk Sládeček. The exhibition was created in cooperation with graduates
institute by Zuzana Vlkovič Zbellová, Adéla Vepřková, Filip Bala and an artist from
Faculty of Fine Arts by Tomáš Hrůza, who supplemented the exhibition with audiovisuals
elements.
Via
a variety of mock-ups, posters, animations and prototype elements are presented
projects. Visitors can view the recently implemented scientific
CZ*Nelson project – polar station in Antarctica, connecting projects
anthropological with natural, such as a campsite in Svinoústí with a bird reserve in
one or projects based on Dutch structuralism. Next at the exhibition
we will find projects based on the research of scenic spaces, student projects
the alternative of the new Faculty of Architecture on Údolní street in Brno, or projects
working with the so-called digital switch in architecture.
They will be about what it means to experiment in architecture
to discuss with presenter and exhibition curator Nicol Gale on Friday 29
September from 16:30 institute members Martin Kaftan, Szymon Rozwałka and recognized personalities
the Czech and Slovak architecture of Petra Janda and Ján Pernecký. It won't be missing either
Jiří Vítek, who worked at the institute in the past and under whose leadership it was established
Roman Bolck's diploma thesis entitled BIOM.
The original diploma thesis developed into an interdisciplinary one,
scientifically based vision of the world where a large part of people live with the help of advanced
technology in almost self-sufficient cities, offering residents better quality
environment for life. Author team consisting of Roman Bolck, Zdenek Vejpustek, Petra
Frantík will follow up the panel discussion at 18:45 by introducing the BIOM publication,
over which the rector of the BUT, doc. Ing. Ladislav Janicek,
PhD., MBA, LL.M.. The project also created a website https://biom-projekt.xyz/ summarizing
the latest research findings and the possibility of obtaining the book.
Friday's program will conclude with a discussion and presentation of the BIOM project
launch of a thematic picture collection by Radka Škodová and a musical performance by the band
Obligatory. The exhibition itself will be on view in the gallery spaces of the creative
