Associate Professor Pavel Šopák changed the form of teaching the history of architecture at the FA, today he defended his professorship
Doc. PhDr. Pavel Šopák Ph.D. has long focused on the history
of architecture and fine arts in the Czech lands and the theory of monument
preservation. Years ago, his research was reflected in the concept of teaching
the History of Architecture course at the Faculty of Architecture of the BUT.
He does not tell the history to students chronologically from the beginning of
the ages to the present, as is usually the case, but according to types. Future
architects will gain a comprehensive knowledge of individual typologies,
materials and cultural changes through this innovative method. He presented his
work and contribution today with success at the BUT Grand Scientific Council.
Now all it takes is an invitation to Prague Castle and the Faculty of
Architecture will have a new professor.
