Students of FA at BUT will participate at Landscape Festival
The ninth year of the Landscape Festival dedicated to the urban landscape and public space is heading to Krnov, where it will focus on the historic center, the sports grounds, the surroundings of the Krnov rivers, the Pod Cvilínem housing estate and the Cvilín hill itself. Visitors can look forward to art installations and architectural interventions in these places. The opening ceremony will take place on Friday 11 June from 3 pm in the Main Square. It will also include openings, guided tours or presentations of the future appearance of the square associated with a public debate with the participation of the authors of this project. The festival, which will also involve students and employees of the Faculty of Architecture at BUT, will last until the end of September.
"In recent years, we have started preparing a number of projects that have two common denominators: public space and landscape. We have several goals. We want to create a better environment for the life of our citizens, to be more environmentally friendly, to support the local economy and also to return to the public space of art. Landscape festival is dedicated to all this in the form of practical demonstrations, temporary and permanent installations, lectures and discussions. I look forward to Krnov coming to life in many places after many months of bans and restrictions. I am proud that this year is hosted by our city, "says the mayor of Krnov Tomáš Hradil. The city of Krnov supported the festival with 900,000 crowns.
The ceremonial opening of the festival and the opening of site-specific installations will be preceded by a sculpture symposium focused on the park near the bus station, landart workshop of landscape architecture students from the Czech University of Agriculture held on Cvilín hill, architectural workshop of students from BUT Faculty of Architecture and studio Archwerk. As part of the autumn program, there will be a Summer School of Architecture for students from the Faculty of Architecture at BUT, a Debate of Municipal Architects or a competition of young gardeners called Linden Branch.
